Cosmetic Laser Surgery for men- photo 1

Despite some common social misconceptions, men are just concerned about their looks as women. However, men have been expected to accept what they have and suffer in silence for too long. Now more than ever before, men are facing mounting pressure to look good. Consequently, the demand for facial plastic surgery for men has been increasing since, unlike women, men don't wear makeup.

Due to their busy work schedules, most men prefer laser type procedures that require minimal recovery time. Lasers are used in a number of cosmetic surgery procedures   such as mole removal, skin resurfacing, acne scar removal and skin pigmentation. Here's what Dr Joseph Ajaka from Sydney says.

Laser cosmetic surgery involves using a laser device to produce and aim a concentrated beam of light precisely onto the problem are in order to vaporize, cut or cauterize the malformed or damaged human tissue.

The laser devices commonly used in laser cosmetic surgery can produce light at different colors and wavelengths to suit the specific procedure being performed. Depend on the procedure; the devices can either produce a solid light beam or a pulsating one.

Laser mole removal for men

Mole removal

Moles are generally any dark spots on the skin such as birthmarks, precancerous or benign keratoses or spots that commonly appear after 30, hemangioma (an abnormal collection of blood vessels). Laser mole removal is done by cauterizing (burning) or cutting. Since most moles extended deep into the skin, very powerful lasers have to be used.

Before undergoing laser mole removal it is important for the doctor to conduct a biopsy on the mole to ensure that it doesn't have cancerous cells. Although it is possible to remove malignant moles using laser technology, additional radiation treatment may be needed to completely kill the cancer cells.

Mole removal has numerous benefits. Apart from improving looks, the smoother skin one gets after removing moles is easier to shave. Moles also cause irritation when they rub against clothing.

Laser skin resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure used to correct most signs of aging such as fine wrinkles, age spots, dull skin and dark eye circles. It can also be used to treat these cosmetic defects even when they are not caused by aging. While laser skin resurfacing is mostly a temporary cosmetic procedure that can stall the ravages of time for some time, it can yield satisfactory results for those who can't afford a surgical facelift.

In laser skin resurface, non-ablative laser heats the skin's surface layer without damaging the epidermis to encourage the growth of new collagen and tighten up the underlying skin to give the skin a smoother appearance. This procedure is ideal for men with tight schedules since very little recovery time is needed after the surgery. Here's more to read on fraxel lasers

Laser removal of Skin pigmentation

Laser acne scar removal

The procedure used to remove old acne scars using laser technology is almost similar to the skin resurfacing procedure. A laser beam is directed onto the scarred area in order to remove the dead skin and car tissue and stimulate growth of new skin tissue. Two types of lasers are used to remove acne car, erbium and carbon dioxide laser. While erbium lasers use a continuous beam of light to vaporize the top layer of the skin, carbon dioxide laser emit short pulses of light to remove a thing skin layer.

Laser removal of Skin pigmentation

Sun spots, age spots and feckless are a common problem in men one of the most undesirable sign of aging is the occurrence of scattered blotchy pigmentation all over the body. While this is a result of a natural aging process that quite be stopped, it can be slowed down significantly.

Laser removal of skin pigment can be achieved by the use IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) where a beam of heated light is precisely aimed at the spots to remove the pigments. The light stimulates collagen renewal by activating the growth of a certain types of cells called fibroblasts. This helps rejuvenate the skin, improve texture and visibly reduce pore and superficial lines for a more youthful appearance.
